There are two primary reasons we find that Messages may be missing:
1. Network connectivity.
There are two kinds of messages sent to Apple devices: iMessages (these appear in blue on an iPhone) and SMS text messages (these appear in green on an iPhone).
SMS text messages can arrive on a device when it's not connected to a data network. This can cause a delay in these messages appearing in SaferText because the child must connect to a data network so that the Messages can be encrypted and uploaded.
2. Device configuration.
Sometimes the child device is not configured properly.
Please do the following:
1. Go to Settings-Screen Time-Content & Privacy Restrictions and turn that OFF (turn back ON at the end)
2. In Settings-(Childname)-iCloud
(a) Is the iCloud Storage full? If so, you'll need to upgrade the plan or share storage with another family member.
(b) Turn Messages ON.
(c) Turn Keychain ON.
3. In Settings-Messages
(a) Turn iMessage ON.
(b) In Settings-Messages-Text Message Forwarding, turn SaferKid ON.
(c) In Settings-Messages-Send & Receive,
(I) if you see "Use your Apple ID for iMessage," tap it and sign in with the child's Apple ID.
(II) In the section under "YOU CAN RECEIVE IMESSAGES TO AND REPLY FROM", are all phone numbers and Apple IDs checked? If not check them.
4. Go to Settings-Screen Time-Content & Privacy Restrictions and turn that back ON
You do NOT need to contact us if you make configuration changes. They take 12-24 hours to go into effect.
If you have tried all of these things and are still not seeing texts or some are missing, please contact us for assistance.
